— Could Joss Whedon’s Commencement Address Bring UU Multigenerations Together?

Joss Whedon writer of screenplays for, The Avengers, Toy Story, Serenity  and the popular tv show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, gave a commencement address at Wesleyan University that was entirely UU in its message and given on a level that, I think, could be great conversation fodder between generations in our churches. He advised graduates to live the tension inside of them in order to change the world. A major leitmotif in all of Whedon’s work is that we as human beings must listen to the tension within, honor it, cultivate it and respect the tension within others regardless of their beliefs because of our connection as human beings.

This is worth watching all the way through. It holds ongoing words of wisdom for life because it emphasizes the being inside of all of us that must not be ignored by our intellects.

Think about showing it in your congregations!
